Let me take a moment of your time to tell you how my journey began.
I hail from the beautiful island of Sri Lanka, from a legacy of gemstone traders. My love for gemstones began at an early age. The lustre, colours and exquisite beauty of gems have always had me enthralled. This love for gemstones, set me on a path of discovery where I learned first-hand how gems are mined, how they should be selected and how to check for the best unblemished stones with excellent clarity, facets and colour. I have travelled around Sri Lanka learning and studying the gem industry for many years. The knowledge gained on this journey has been priceless and marked the beginning of the next chapter of my life.
I made my first venture in 2018 when I opened my gem business in Sri Lanka. Thereafter, in 2019 I immigrated to New Zealand with my family to further my studies. I was determined even then that it would not be the end of my journey with gemstones and thus I started my own small scaled coloured gemstones business in New Zealand, towards the end of 2019.
This year, I hope to further the reach of Ceylon Collection to that of an ecommerce site in New Zealand and Australia. I hope to expand my selection of gems from coloured stones, to birth stones, loose gems and bespoke orders.

How We Ethically Source Gems
Ceylon Collection, ethically sources gemstones from Sri Lanka (formerly known as Ceylon). Most of the suppliers working with Ceylon Collection visit the mines themselves and check on the welfare of the miners and make sure they are paid fair wage. Most of our gems are sourced from the most famous gem markets in Sri Lanka. Namely, Ratnapura, Niwithigala and Beruwela. I personally visit these areas myself from time to time in order to handpick quality gemstones.
We provide the best in terms of quality, cutting and pricing. After careful research of the gem and jewellery industry in New Zealand and Australia I found that most gems are sourced by third party countries which makes the price of the gemstone alone quote exorbitant.
We at Ceylon Collection sell certified gemstones directly from the source (Sri Lanka) which helps us to offer reasonable pricing. Our National award winning gem cutters in Sri Lanka make sure we have receive the best quality faceted gemstones, which is why we are also in a position to handle bespoke orders for custom cut jewels.
