Trumpet Brooch
“Sri Lankan gemstones have been a firm favourite amongst the Royal family, especially with her (late) Majesty the Queen, Queen Elizabeth II.
The Trumpet Brooch gifted to her in 1981 by the Mayor of Colombo during her visit to Ceylon was one of her most loved possessions as she was seen wearing it on many an occasion throughout her reign. The brooch captures the essence of all that is Sri Lankan gems. The brooch is set in a design that resembles a bouquet of flowers with a variety of exquisite precious and semi-precious faceted stones in vibrant colours.
The British Royal Jewel
The British Royal Jewel is an exotic 105carat Chrysoberyl Cat’s Eye of exceptional quality discovered in Sri Lanka. It acquired great fame in the 1900’s when it was purchased by British Royalty from a reputed Jeweler in London. It is said that this cat’s eye was cherished by four British monarchs: Edward VII, George V, Edward VIII, and Queen Elizabeth II.
Princess Diana’s Engagement Ring
The engagement ring made the hands of Princes Diana in 1981 when engaged to Prince Charles is the most known Ceylon Sapphire of all.
Her engagement ring consisted of 14 diamonds surrounding a 12-carat oval blue Ceylon Sapphire set in 18-karat white gold. It was created by then-crown jeweller Garrard. The stone is now inherited by Prince William and presently held by Princess Kate Middleton as their engagement ring.
